Message From The Chairman

With great pleasure I welcome you to the website of Madhavarau Scindia Memorial Charitable Trust. The performance of the trust for the last 6 years had been very promising and fills my heart with joy
I look forward with brimming confidence to venture in to future activities to achieve the aim set while starting the trust.

The unfortunate and untimely demise of an unforgettable National Leader Madhavrao Scindia, who took birth in a Royal family and yet understood feelings and emotions of commoner by working with them was the most painful and irreparable loss to the Nation.

To keep the sweet memories of that great personality on his first death anniversary, Kannur ventured the foundation of a noble project. Madhavrao Scindia Memorial Trust today is prominent in the field of social services, in North Malabar region. Of all the memorial institutions in the country in the royal name of Madhavrau Scindia, undoubtedly modern medical services to the common man being provided by the Trust is most prominent and gaining acceptance.

Holding the reigns, the Chairman of the Trust K. Pramod has quite a bit to speak about the circumstances and the back track. September 30, 2002 was the first death anniversary of Madhavruu Scindia. His last public appearance was in Kannur; and he captured the affection of the population in one gathering. That alone could be the reason for the general feelings of the public to ever maintain his sweet memories by establishing a memorial trust in his royal name. Thereby Madhavrao Scindia Memorial Charitable Trust took birth in Kannur. The D.C.C. President Adv. Sunny Joseph lighted the lamp to usher us in to a field of social service.

Help the poor students, extend helping hands to those suffering from various diseases and helplessness were our prime objectives and the Trust has maintained them all these years.
It was the dream of the Trust to establish a hospital to impart all possible medical services to the poor patients. Ultimately in October 2003. a hospital was established in a rented building: and thrown open for the public. This 50 bedded Hospital was inaugurated by the State Forest Minister K. Sudhakaran.

This was the time when medical field was turning into almost a business, rather than service. At this juncture also. Madhavrao Scindia Memorial Hospital distinctly stood out with a noble difference -50% of the profit earned from the Hospital was diverted purely for humanitarian causes. Reasonable discounts and free treatments were being given to a large number of poor patients.

Since last six years, Madhavrao Scindia Memorial Trust has been providing lunch to the patients of Dist. Hospital, Kannur on every Saturdays. The trust has undertaken free education of seven students selected from financially backward families. 21 poor patients were offered free Cataract Surgery. The Trust has conducted a number of free medical camps, free diagnostic camps including blood group tests, health seminars, awareness programmes etc. helping numbers poor patients from different corners of Kannur. The Trust has always joined hands with all service programmes organised by the Government. One of the most noted services by the Trust is the free school uniform distribution to poor students. Starting with a target of one thousand poor students from Kannur Municipality area and nearby Panchayaths, the Chairman proudly announces that the Trust has covered 2000 students from 140 schools.

The Chairman K.Pramod reiterated that the Trust is indebted to the general public of Kannur for their sincere assistance towards all these noble and humanitarian services. He added that the invaluable assistance and contribution by the Kannur Chamber of Commerce, people from business and industrial fields, a large number of Malayalee NRI friends etc. were prime contributors towards the success of all our ventures.

Leaders at national levels and state level, many prominent personalities of social respect and status and innumerable artists and social workers have always supported the Trust. Madhavrao Scindia Hospital Memorial Charitable Trust, during its 6 years of existence is now in progress with a most prestigious venture. The trust in a joint venture with Kannur Institute of Medical Science & Technology is about to establish a 100 bedded Multi Speciality Hospital in Kannur. The Chairman hastily added that the Trust ventured this massive project based on the earnest support of many NRI's. They are also planning to setup haemodialysis centers in all the 14 Districts of Kerala with the help of various charitable organisations to help the poor patients.

Behind the success of all our venture the Chairman added, the honest commitment of the 199 members of the Trust, their sincerity, open mindedness and oneness are vital factors. Selfless and devoted contributions of Doctors and the efficiency and sincerity of rest of the working team have brought up this Hospital and its humanitarian services to such a level that Madhavrao Scindia Memorial Hospital would stand out as a true monument to a great leader, who captured the mind of Kannur.
